ROMANIA 2000/2002

I took these pictures between 2000 and 2002.
At first it was just a trip to Romania. We wanted to have some relax and spend some time taking pictures.
We had a unique experience during our first visit. Romania is great and people are fantastic. We had been guests in a funeral, taken underground in a mine by romanian workers, slept in farmers house.
And we could enter in a house for abandoned children. That was something that changed ourselves and led to this set of photos.
Once back to Italy we joined the association “Bambini in Romania” (see http://www.bironlus.eu/) and in the following two years we spent summer vacation working as volounteers in two centres for abandoned children.
The photos have been used to raise money for the association: in 2002 they had been collected in a book curated by Denis Curti and published by Mazzotta Fotografia.
